University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) is the first Energy University recognized by UGC and NACC also authorized by Energy University of London. The University offers with 42 specialized programs. UPES is dedicated in promoting education and training in the fields of energy, petroleum and gas, aerospace, computer science, electronics, mechanics, mechatronics and many more.

The University was established in Uttarakhand by the state legislature in the year 2003. The university is now under private and government partnership.
